South Harrow tube station has reopened following last night’s alleged gang fight on Northolt Road. We spoke with an eye witness after he tweeted stating he is “lucky to be alive”.
“Further news re. South Harrow incident following on from my tweet;
I would say there were two groups of around 10 involved. At least one guy had been hurt, possibly badly. There was also a group of people the station ticket hall around one person who may also have been injured (didn’t hang around to find out!)
Several ambulances arrived first, before any police arrived. I am unsure how long it had been going on but long enough for there to be plenty of “onlookers”. The road and station were closed shortly afterwards with buses diverted away or turned back short, and trains passed through without stopping. I think this is still ongoing now.”
“Certainly was frightening but kept my head down and carried on walking to get away as soon as possible!
I was walking home down the Northolt Road from Harrow and I was thinking that there was an unusually large amount of people about for an early Sunday evening. The closer I got to the station I could hear shouting, not unusual for the area. Then it began to sound like an argument and I could see a lot of people were looking towards the station. That was when I noticed a large group of people outside the old Barclays bank. There was a guy that was crossing the road, who was shouting, then suddenly cricket bat-shapped objects appeared to be “drawn” and held in a threatening position. Then they clashed. Other items, possibly street furniture or discarded metal items, were then lobbed in retaliation. Then the emergency services came into view and I don’t know after that.”
