Harrow Takes Away The Prize For Fast Food

With the news just in that Tai Pan Express in Northwood has won a recent Good Food Award for takeaways, it’s time to celebrate our borough’s diverse range of restaurants and takeaways.

It’s not just about chicken!

Despite the snarky comments on social media, Harrow’s restaurant scene is so much more than just fried chicken.  With hundreds of individual and unique restaurants across the borough, as well as the usual chain stores, we take a look at some of the best.

Eastern promise

One thing that Harrow does really well is Indian food – and we have the variety to prove it. The ever popular Bombay Central in Harrow Weald offers authentic and delicious food at reasonable prices and is great for families.

Not far away, on Station Road, Sizzling Spice offers a great choice of take-away food including nan rolls, appetisers and grills.  Moving a little further away, the ultra modern 100 Degrees on Pinner Road offers great traditional Indian food along with their unique take on tapas and, a selection of cocktails and wines.

Orient express

Although many Chinese restaurants in Harrow have not fared well, The Taste Of China continues to thrive through great food and great customer service.

Noodle City is another favourite which quietly endures as others fall to the wayside.  Known for it’s great, fast food and Wagamama style seating, Noodle City is a great post-pub stop. A fairly recent addition to Harrow’s repertoire is Mr Sushi.

Located on Station Road, this gem serves sushi and sashimi and, for those not keen on fish, they also offer chicken and pork dishes.

Possibly Harrow’s quirkiest restaurant, award winning Cooper Thai is perched on Masons Avenue – just a stone’s throw from Harrow and Wealdstone Station.

Serving authentic Thai food, Cooper Thai’s staff are super-friendly and, those using the restaurant are able to bring their own wine and beer – and will often be treated to a personal visit from Cooper Thai’s friendly, fun owner.

A pizza the Harrow action

We can’t, of course, talk about fast food without mentioning this Italian favourite.  When it comes to pizza, Harrovians are spoilt for choice between big name brands such as Pizza Express and Prezzo or, independents such as Fire House Pizza on Harrow High Road and, the 4+ star Silver Dollar Pizza on Imperial Drive.

For those looking for pizza with a difference, Kebabland’s Turkish pizza is well worth a try and, is available for eat in or takeaway from their store on College Road.

For Cluck’s Sake

Of course, if none of that takes your fancy, Harrow is, of course, a treasure trove for lovers of fried Chicken.

From Nandos on Station Road to Tennessee Fried Chicken on Northolt Road, you won’t have to travel far in Harrow before you come across one of our many purveyors of great quality fried chicken and fries.

As Harrow faces a time of change and regeneration, we can take comfort in the fact that many of our favourite takeaways will always be there for us!
