We became aware of reports last night (18 June) of police activity reported in Edgware. Police were carrying out Automatic Number Plate Recognition on Edgware Road which lead to them perusing a vehicle.
A Met police spokesperson said: “At approximately 18:50hrs on Tuesday, 18 June officers were carrying out an ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) operation on the A5, Edgware Road, NW9 when a car failed to stop for police.
A short pursuit was initiated and the car stopped in Rydal Gardens, NW9. Two men, aged 20 and 22, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B drugs – both remain in custody.
A quantity of drugs, believed to be cannabis, and cash was recovered from the vehicle. Enquiries continue.”
