Northwick Park nurse stranded in Philippines following horrific car crash

A nurse from Northwick Park Hospital and her family are stranded in the Philippines after a car crash during their trip has left her paralysed from the waist down and unable to afford a flight home to Britain.

Candice Montefalcon, 33, who is a nurse at Northwick Park, would be visiting the Philippines for the first time in seven years. It was meant to be surprise for her parents.

The family were on their way to catch a plane at Manila airport, on the way there they were hit by a coach, flipping the car over several times in the process. Candice suffered fractures to her ribs and spine, leaving her completely paralysed from the waist down.

The family are stuck in the Philippines and face ongoing costs of hospital bills. The staff at Northwick Park A&E are trying to raise the necessary money to support Candice and her family at this trying time. They are trying to bring them home to the UK so she can receive the care she desperately  needs.

A crowdfunding page has been set up by Candice’s work colleagues at Northwick Park Hospital where Candice has been a senior nurse for seven years.  The goal is to raise £30,000 to get the family home to the UK.

Candice is an amazing nurse and has touched many lives with her generosity, her selfless acts of kindness and a genuine passion for her profession.
