A post went out on the ‘Inside Edgware’ facebook page stating that there was an alleged attempted abduction of a child in Edgware on Tuesday this week ( September 3).

The post read: “Good morning Folks….One of our members contacted me as, on Tuesday evening at 6.15 pm, a male described as white with short hair and slim build aged between 30-45 in a large white van tried to lure her 9 year old son into his van.”

“Her son ran and hid in some bushes in the next street before running home hysterical to his parents. Our member said that the van was parked outside Stoneyfields Park on the Fairmead Crescent entrance in the Broadfields area.”

“Police were notified and investigating. Please all be extra vigilant and remind your children to walk in groups rather than on their own if possible.”

A metropolitan police spokesperson stated: “We received a report of alleged attempted kidnap – searched the area and no trace of any suspects etc”.
