St Anns shopping centre appeals to public for art

St Anns Shopping Centre is looking for local artists to get involved with a campaign to raise both awareness of homelessness and funds for homeless charities. The Harrow Shopping Centre is appealing for local people with an artistic flare who would be willing to produce and donate a piece of art themed around the subject of homelessness.

10th October is World Homeless Day, and to mark it an art exhibition will take place within a shop unit in the centre including pieces by local artists, Harrow College students and pupils from local schools. The exhibition, which will be open to the public throughout the month and into November, will raise awareness of homelessness, as well as supporting Crisis and Harrow Based homeless charity Firm Foundation. Anyone who feels they can help is urged to contact David Robinson, centre manager for St Anns on 0208 8861 2282 or email David.robinson@stannsshopping.co.uk

David Robinson, Centre Manager at St Anns Shopping Centre, said: “Homelessness is an increasing concern both locally and nationally and we’d love to see the community to come together and work with us to raise awareness and funds for homeless charities. We’re looking for artists of all levels of experience to get involved and add to what promises to be an interesting exhibition. And we’re looking for art in all forms, I’d love to see sculpture, poetry, photography as well as paintings and drawings.

“We are already committed to raising funds for Crisis throughout the year, and we will also be supporting Firm Foundation and the valuable work they do in the local community.”
