Lidl submit application for new store at Homebase Harrow Weald

Lidl are pressing forward with a proposed move into Homebase in High Road, Harrow Weald when it eventually closes creating a massive new supermarket on the site.

The German discount supermarket chain already occupies branches in Ruislip, Stanmore, Pinner and a soon-to-be opened store in St Anns shopping centre in central Harrow. They are also in the process of building a giant new store in Watford.

The application was submitted on 10 June this year and include “Use Of Premises For Retail (Class A1 Use); Alterations To Shop Front; External Alterations; Provision Of Additional Car Parking Spaces; Landscaping And Removal Of Garden Centre.”.

Oliver Thomas, Corporate Communications officer for Lidl said: “Earlier this year we completed contracts with British Land to take the current Homebase unit for our new store on High Road, Harrow Weald.”

Staff at Homebase Harrow Weald have told us that they will receive an exact closure date after 01 November. The current store has been open since 1994. We will update everyone when more information becomes available.
