Dead body discovered after suspected arson in Wembley

Metropolitan Police and the London Fire Brigade (LFB) have launched a joint investigation following the discovery of a man’s body in the early hours of this morning.

The discovery was made after a house fire in Wembley. Met Police say they were called at 3am and that the fire is being treated as arson.

London Fire Brigade have said they were called to a fire at a semi-detached house converted into a bedsit on Grasmere Avenue. Nine people left the property before the brigade arrived.

Emergency services rushed to the scene today (November 26) and six fire engines and around 40 firefighters tackled the blaze.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson initially said: “The Brigade was called at 3.06am and the fire was under control by 5.04am.

“Fire crews from Wembley, Stanmore, Hendon and Park Royal fire stations attended the incident.

“The cause of the fire is under investigation by the police and Brigade fire investigation officers.”
