Harrow woman wins national business award

Harrow-based Magdalena Narain has been awarded a ‘Star of the Year’ Award at the recent UK’s annual Direct Selling Awards.

The national awards, which were held this year at the De Vere Staverton Estate in Daventry, are hosted by the Direct Selling Association (DSA), the UK trade body for direct-to-consumer retail.

The awards recognise the best individuals, teams and companies in the industry, which includes many well-known and much-loved household names; brands such as AVON, Neal’s Yard Remedies Organic, Usborne Books at Home, The Body Shop at Home and MONAT.

Direct selling is a £2.67 billion retail channel in the UK and the latest market data suggests that the sector is enjoying a renaissance, with turnover increasing by 27% in the last year.

Over 563,000 people in the UK now work in direct selling, considered by many to be the ‘original side hustle’, with 63% doing so alongside another job.
The ‘Star of the Year’ accolade is awarded to an individual nominated by the company they work with in recognition for their exceptional contribution.

From starting her role as Market Partner at global luxury hair and skincare brand, MONAT in August 2018, Magdalena climbed the ranks in just three months to Market Mentor and EU Founder.

Supported with an amazing team in the UK, Ireland and Poland alongside a strong family driving force, Magdalena was quickly noticed and progressed to Director level upon showing she can work anywhere, anytime; even spending six weeks in Mauritius, where Magdalena’s husband is from, was a key moment for Magdalena that showed her ability to work anywhere in the world as a MONAT Market Partner and was highly commendable within the company.

Magdalena said: “I joined MONAT in August 2018 and I never had any doubts. I work with all my heart to show others how amazing our products and opportunity are. To be recognised as a Direct Selling Star is such an honour. Before joining MONAT, I was lost, but now I have found myself and will do everything I can to show others how successful they too can be with our company.”

Susannah Schofield OBE, Director General of the Direct Selling Association, comments: “The quality of the nominations this year is testament to the investment that our member companies are making in nurturing and training their independent salesforces, and I’m delighted to offer my congratulations to all our winners
