St George’s Shopping Centre announces closure of all but two shops

St George’s Shopping Centre has now temporarily closed all but two shops due to the government guidance about coronavirus.

The two shops that remain open at the moment are Boots for medical supplies and Wilko for home essentials in line with the government guidelines.

St George’s has posted the following via their website and Facebook page –

“Due to the rise of confirmed COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) cases in the UK, we are following Government guidance to protect the health of our shoppers and employees.

“As part of St. George’s Shopping Centre’s ongoing commitment to health and safety procedures, we’ve taken several precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the virus such as an increased frequency of cleaning regimes, especially at ‘touch points’ such as door handles, hand rails, benches and seating areas.

“We’ve provided information to our retailers, which include Government recommendations such as washing hands for a minimum of 20 seconds – make sure you sing Happy Birthday!

“St. George’s Shopping Centre’s wishes to inform customers not to visit the centre if they are showing any signs or symptoms of the virus.  Please take extra caution and follow Government guidance to ensure everyone stays safe.

“We continue to take daily advice from the relevant authorities and will update customers with any further developments.”
