Harrow residents help get urgent supplies to Northwick Park Hospital

Residents across Harrow have been donating much needed medical supplies to Northwick Park Hospital thanks to an online campaign set up by two local women.

Sarah Owen and Carrie-ann Elizabeth George have been working alongside the LNWH charity to get supplies to the Northwick Park Hospital intensive care unit.

The unit is in urgent need of PPE equipment to help care for patients during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nationwide, nurses are threatening to walk out as they do not have the basic supplies to protect them against the virus whilst treating our loved ones.

Taking donations: Carrie-ann (left) and Sarah are Harrow residents that are really helping staff at Northwick Park Hospital.

Sarah and Carrie-Ann have been sourcing as much equipment as they can, including disposable aprons, gloves, fluid resistant face mask/visors, eye protection FFP-3 masks and more thanks to kind donations from the public. They are also collecting care packages for the staff at NPH ICU & Accident & Emergency.

These can be made up by yourselves (shoebox size recommended) or single items that we can collate into a larger box. Items like hand creams, snacks, crisps and drinks are also accepted.

In addition, the London North West University Healthcare occupational health dept have set up a Covid-19 staff ‘well-being appeal‘ to make sure that all donations are sent to the right place.

Victoria Manning, who is leading the appeal said: ‘We are truly humbled by the outpouring of support for our wonderful NHS staff as they cope with the difficulties of the current situation.

“We want to make sure that this amazing support is coordinated effectively, so we ask the public and businesses to either donate though our Appeals page on JustGiving, our Charity website at www.lnwhcharity.org.uk/donate or by emailing us on lnwh-tr.charity@nhs.net ”
