A Halfords lorry was temporarily stuck under the train bridge at South Harrow Station yesterday afternoon (16 July).
The incident happened at around 11:00am with the lorry stuck in position for around two hours. Footage was uploaded to the Harrow Online Group showing the police on site dealing with the situation as oncoming traffic had to manoeuvre around the stick vehicle.
A member of Harrow Online said: “Problem is he could have a general sat nav which shows all roads. Where as a hgvs based nav will alert the driver to hazards. Depends also if the measurements of the height of the trailer is to the roof not including the extra part of the shutter which is a little higher.”
Another person commented: “Don’t recall the bridge at South Harrow ever having the warning lights, only a height sign, the one at South Ruislip has the lights.”
Another group member said: “Again another clearly signed low bridge. I remember a bus mechanic with a double decker on test tried to get under there…it came out a single decker….”
Harrow Online spoke to Met Police about the incident who confirmed that the lorry was recovered by around 12:45pm with no structural damage done to the bridge itself.
