Next Sunday, OneForty will be helping to host a fundraising effort for a heart breaking cause.
Nigel is the cousin of two of our long standing volunteers, Zoe and Paul Hooker. They, along with other family members and friends, will be hosting a book and bake sale in his honour.
Last year, Nigel had a stroke so severe it left him fighting for his life in intensive care for 6 weeks. Progress is slow, he remains paralyzed and is only able to communicate through an eye gazer.
Luckily, he was able to make it home in July but much more fundraising is needed to make modifications to their home. This will enable the family to keep Nigel at home comfortably where he can concentrate on further rehabilitation.
It is also hoped that the money raised will ease some financial burden as, in a further bad turn in events, his wife was diagnosed with cancer shortly before his stroke and relied heavily on him to take care of their 2 girls.
We would like to raise as much as we can for Nigel and his family and welcome any donation however small.
Please come down to OneForty next Sunday 6th September (10am – 2pm) where there will be over 600 amazing books of every genre to choose from and a huge selection of delicious homemade cakes ?? Not forgetting that the best coffee in Harrow will also be on offer ? ☕
Thank you – it really will make such a difference to Nigel and his family ?
