Dr Hilary Jones visits Harrow to open new Powerleague centre

Powerleague, the UK’s leading small-sided football operator, opened its newest centre this week in Harrow, providing a huge boost for the local community and the school children at Harrow High School, where the new centre is situated.

At a time when many businesses are sadly closing their doors, Powerleague is investing in the future health and wellbeing of the people of Harrow and the surrounding areas, giving them the opportunity to enjoy small-sided football in a safe and secure environment.

The new centre was opened by GP and media broadcaster Dr Hilary Jones, who has appeared as the resident medical expert on programmes such as Lorraine, GMTV, and Good Morning Britain for over 30 years.

Upon opening the centre, Dr Hilary said: “I’m delighted to be unveiling the new Powerleague here in Harrow. From a health and wellbeing perspective, there are so many benefits to playing small-sided football, both physically and mentally. As we emerge from lockdown, many people will have been cooped up, unable to exercise and socialise, and it’s fantastic that Powerleague is able to expand at this time, offering theirfirst class services and facilities to more people in a Covid-secure environment.

Christian Rose, Powerleague CEO, added: “After a long delay brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, we’re thrilled to finally be able to open the doors to our newest centre here in Harrow. The centre will be a fantastic asset to the community and the students here at Harrow High School, especially during the challenging landscape we’re all living through at the moment.

It’s been great to have Dr Hilary here opening the facility. As such a well-known and well-respected medical expert, hearing him advocate for the physical and mental health benefits of small-sided football has been wonderful, and we can’t wait for our players to enjoy the great facilities we have here.”
