EIGHTH school in Harrow confirms coronavirus case

Rooks Heath High School in South Harrow has become the eighth in Harrow to confirm a case of COVID-19 within the school.

The school has sent a message advising parents of the situation. A small number of people have also been sent into self isolation.

Headteacher Mrs M Manderson said in an email sent to parents: “I am writing to advise that there has been a confirmed case of COVID-19 within the school.

“We know that you may find this concerning, but we are continuing to monitor the situation and are working closely with Public Health England.

“This letter is to inform you of the current situation and provide advice on how to support your child. Please be reassured that for most people, coronavirus (COVID-19) will be a mild illness.

“The small number who have been in direct prolonged contact with the confirmed case have received an individual communication and are self-isolating as per guidance from Public Health England.

“The school remains open and your child should continue to attend if they remain well.”

A concerned relative of a student at the school contacted Harrow Online. They said: “The pupils still have to go to school which I think is outrageous.”
