Health Secretary Matt Hancock says Harrow has ‘led the way’ on how to achieve vaccine targets

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has sent letters to Harrow MPs praising Harrow for achieving amongst the highest Covid-19 vaccination rates in the country.

The letter says that Harrow has “led the way on how to achieve targets” with 80 per cent of people aged 80 and above and in care homes, having been vaccinated against coronavirus.

Mr Hancock wrote letters to Harrow East MP Bob Blackman and Harrow West MP Gareth Thomas.

Matt Hancock wrote: “I am delighted to inform you that Harrow was one of the highest performing covid vaccination teams in the country.

“Harrow has a multi PCN approach enabling all patients to avail themselves of vaccines across the CCG.

“They have completed over 80 per cent of the 80 plus cohort and care homes and have made excellent progress on 75 plus cohort.

“Harrow has also led the way on how to achieve the targets in a very diverse population.”

“Britain is leading the global fight back against the virus, being the first country in the world to approve a clinically-trialled vaccine and now deploying the vaccine on the ground faster than almost any other country in the world.

“And this is down to the tireless efforts of all those involved – especially those on the ground in our communities, from nurses, to GPs, to pharmacies, to volunteers, and so many more.

“It’s incredible to see this community spirit, as people pull together to lead us collectively out of the pandemic.”

Harrow East MP Bob Blackman said he was “delighted to receive letter from the Health Secretary”.

He added on Instagram that would like to give a “Huge thanks to all the staff and volunteers involved in the roll-out”.

Yesterday Matt Hancock tweeted: “THANK YOU to everyone involved in the vaccine roll-out.

“The vaccines taskforce, the scientists, the pharmaceutical companies, the armed forces, the NHS, the volunteers & the British people.

“Delighted that 94% of people have said they either have had the jab or will get the jab.”
