Human remains found: Police officer arrested on suspicion of murder

The police have discovered human remains whine searching for Sarah Everard in a Kent woodland.

The police officer currently being held in connection with the disappearance of Sarah Everard has been arrested on suspicion of murder Met police have confirmed.

Police have said that the serving officer, who is in his 40s was initially arrested last night on suspicion of kidnap in Kent.

London 999 tweeted: “BREAKING: Met Police searching for missing #SarahEverard, 33, of Brixton, south-London, have discovered human remains in woodland in #Ashford, Kent.

A Metropolitan Police officer arrested on suspicion of kidnap and murder remains in police custody.

A woman in her 30s, who was arrested at the same property, is still being held on suspicion of assisting an offender.There has also been an allegation of indecent exposure, Met Police said.

Police also posted via their website: “Officers are searching locations in London and Kent including a property in Deal and an area of woodland near Ashford.

“Following the arrest of the police officer, the Metropolitan Police has made a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.”
