Elderly woman robbed in Harrow Town Centre as thieves steal handbag ‘from her walking frame’

An elderly lady has been robbed in Harrow Town Centre police have revealed.

The lady had her handbag stolen which contained her bank cards, the thieves then went on to spend money on the cards at local stores in Harrow.

Police have advised people to keep valuables safe by keeping them zipped up or by using inside pockets.

Harrow MPS Tweeted: “Harrow Safer Transport Team crime prevention update. 18th May, Harrow Town Centre between 1-2pm.

“An elderly lady had her handbag stolen from her walking frame. Her bank cards were used at 2 local stores. Please keep valuables in a zipped bag or inside jacket pocket.

”If you see anyone stealing please dial 999.”

Just five days ago Harrow Police tweeted the following regarding a similar incident in Harrow Town Centre: “Harrow Safer Transport Team crime prevention update. 17.5. 21 at 1400hrs. A 25yr old woman was walking along Station Road, Harrow near Tesco Express.

“A 35yr old man, tanned coloured skin, 5’5” tall then put his hand into her jacket pocket and took out her mobile phone.”

“The woman managed to get her phone back. Please be careful and keep your belongings in a zipped bag or inside jacket pocket. Please keep a watch out for pickpockets and they are seen call 999. Thanks.”
