Vehicle crashes after police chase in Harrow

A vehicle crashed in Rayners Lane today after being chased by police through South Harrow.

The occupants of the vehicle quickly fled the scene following the collision leading to a pursuit by police helicopter.

During the incident a temporary cordon was put in place at near Roxbourne Medical Centre.

One member of Harrow Online said: “There’s an incident on Rayners Lane, where it meets the roundabout at Roxeth Green Ave down to Coles Crescent. The road has been closed off, heavy police presence including dogs.”

Met Police told Harrow Online: “At around 13:17hrs on Tuesday, 3 August officers attempted to stop a suspected stolen vehicle in the South Harrow area.

“The vehicle failed to stop for police and a pursuit was authorised. It was subsequently involved in a collision in Sandringham Crescent and the occupants fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

“Officers carried out a thorough search of the area, with support from the National Police Air Service.

“One man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving and theft offences and taken into custody at a north London police station.

“Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing.”
