UK ‘threw away’ over half a million vaccine doses according to reports

The UK has allegedly ‘threw away’ more than half a million AstraZeneca vaccine doses after the jabs passed their expiry date.

The Independent has reported that the government allegedly failed to donate the doses to poorer countries.

This had been despite previously promised to be redistributed as ‘surplus supplies’.

The data, obtained by a Freedom of Information request, showed 604,400 vaccines expired in August before being destroyed after they were no longer needed.

This was after the decision to stop offering the jab to younger age groups.

Oxfam have been quoted as saying that the revelation that the UK had allegedly destroyed more than 600,000 doses was “an absolute scandal” and “very much the tip of the iceberg”.
