Harrow pupils to become judges at Blue Peter Book Awards

Pupils from Krishna Avanti Primary School in Harrow have been selected as one of 12 twelve schools in the whole of the UK to be judges in the 2022 Blue Peter Book Awards.

The awards, which are managed by BookTrust – the largest reading charity in Britain – seek to find the best new children’s books written in the past 12 months.

Twenty lucky pupils from Year 5 and Year 6 will read six shortlisted books, both fiction and non-fiction, before casting their votes for their favourite “Best Book with Facts” and “Best Story.”

Ten-year-old Siddharth, one of the Year 6 pupils said, “I was really excited when I was selected and when I saw the books, I knew I was going to love every one of them!”

Principal, Shriti Bellare added, “Our pupils are passionate about books and reading is a key focus in our school. We are delighted that they can have this wonderful opportunity to become even better readers.”

The winners of award will be announced on the iconic children’s TV programme Blue Peter in March 2022.
