Boy taken to hospital after suspected stabbing in Watford Town Centre

A 16-year-old boy has suffered a suspected stab wound in Watford Town Centre. 

The incident happened in Watford High Street as people would have been busy Christmas shopping.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested by police.

Herts Police said: “Police were called at around 5.10pm on Saturday 18 December following an incident in Watford High Street.

“It was reported that an altercation had occurred between two teenage males, who are known to each other.

“One of the males sustained an injury during the incident, believed to be a stab wound.

“Officers attended, alongside the ambulance service and the injured boy, aged 16, was taken to hospital.

“His injuries are not being treated as life-threatening.

“A search of the area was carried out by police to trace the suspect.

“A 15-year-old boy was arrested in Albert Road a short time later and, following an interview, has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

“The incident is being treated as isolated.”
