A number of catalytic converter thefts have been reported in Harrow

There have been a number of catalytic converters thefts from cars within the last month in Harrow, residents have reported.

A video originally uploaded on TikTok, and then shared on Instagram by UB1UB2, showed catalytic converter thieves operating in Harrow and appeared to show them scare residents into staying in their homes. The video has been viewed over 75,000 times so far. The incident is said to have occurred on 5 January.

Another theft occurred on Kingsley Road, South Harrow (12/12/2021) at 5am. This was reported to the police with footage shared on the Harrow Online Crime Watch Group.

Catalytic converters form part of a car’s exhaust system, they contain precious metals which help to reduce and filter harmful gases. Once a converter is removed, cars cannot be driven legally and can cost up to £1,000 to replace.

Another incident in Harrow View back in November, showed catalytic converter thieves cockily giving a thumbs up gesture to a video doorbell camera as his accomplices stole the device from the vehicle.
