Man, 82, in a critical condition after vehicle fail-to-stop collision

Police are investigating a collision between a car and a pedestrian in Ealing and have appealed for witnesses and anyone with footage to come forward.

Police were called at 3:19pm on Wednesday, 5 January to reports of a collision at Gunnersbury Lane, W3.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended the incident. At the scene, an 82-year-old man had been in collision with a blue coloured Mercedes A Class.

Police have said that the car failed to stop at the scene.

The pedestrian was taken to a west London hospital where his condition remains critical but stable.

A 27-year-old man self-presented at a west London police station later that same day. He was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop after a road traffic collision. He was later released on bail. The vehicle concerned was recovered.

Detective Constable Davina Nash, of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “I am very keen to hear from any drivers who were in the area who may have dash-cam footage of the circumstances surrounding this collision or anyone who witnessed the incident but hasn’t yet spoken with police.

“If you have information that could assist our investigation please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
