Famous comedian, Barry Cryer, has sadly died aged 86.
Harrow Online is saddened to learn that Barry Cryer has passed away. Barry has lived in Hatch End since the late 1960s, and was a popular member of the community.
The comic’s, who was born in Leeds, career spans over five decades and saw him working with such famous performers as Bob Hope, Les Dawson Bruce Forsyth and Spike Milligan amongst many others.
Tributes have been pouring in on twitter for the beloved comedian.
Broadcaster Piers Morgan tweeted: “RIP Barry Cryer, 86. Such a warm, funny and talented man. A giant of British comedy. Thanks for all the laughs, Barry.”
Comedian and author David Badiel said: “Ah, Barry Cryer. Lived and breathed comedy. RIP.”
Presenter and writer Gyles Brandreth said: ” Baz was just the loveliest guy: funny & generous. He’d worked with everybody & everybody he worked with liked him. I shall miss his happy company so much – & his regular phone calls: he gave you a gem of a joke with each one.”
Author Richard Herring tweeted: “Losing Barry Cryer is like losing a member of the family. Utterly gutted that I’ve had my last birthday joke. He was one of my absolute comedy heroes and kept working right to the fucking end. A life well lived and a connection to every great comedian of the last 60 years. RIP”
Actress Sunetra Sarker tweeted: “Oh Noo! I love #BarryCryer He was the real deal. A genuine comedy legend. He was a childhood hero. There is NOTHING that genius couldn’t make funny. I adored his gift and will miss his wit in this world. Thank you for all the laughs.”
