Emma Raducanu stalker, from Harrow, handed restraining order

A stalker from Harrow has been handed a five year restraining order and 200 hours of unpaid work.

Amrit Magar, 35, from Harrow walked 23 miles to the home of British tennis star Emma Raducanu – to loiter outside her property.

Magar was found guilty last month of stalking the 19-year-old tennis star from November 1 and December 4 2021, after a trial at Bromley Magistrates’ Court.

Magar even stole one of Raducanu’s fathers shoes as a souvenir.

He left unwanted gifts and cards and a bouquet of flowers with a note reading “nothing to say but you deserve love”.

He wad arrested after Raducanu’s father was alerted by a doorbell camera.

Today (Wednesday 23 Feb), Judge Sushil Kumar handed him a five-year restraining order and sentenced him to an 18-month community order, including 200 hours of unpaid work.

The order bans him from contacting Ms Raducanu, including her parents, and also prevents him from going within a mile of their street.

The restraining order also prohibits Magar from attending any sports ground, stadium or training facility where she is in competition or attending to train.

Reading Ms Raducanu’s victim statement, prosecutor Denise Clewes said: “The incidents made her feel very apprehensive if she goes out.

“Her parents are reluctant to let her go out on her own.

“She feels her freedom has been taken away and is constantly looking over her shoulder.”

Ms Raducanu’s father also made a statement, he said he is “very worried about his daughter’s safety and security and concerned the man may want revenge”
