Harrow residents surprised as post boxes are painted pink across the borough

Harrow residents have been surprised this week to find their local post boxes painted pink!

Two pink boxes have been spotted in Woodlands Drive, and Gordon Avenue, both in Stanmore.

Another bright pink post box has been spotted on Pinner Road in North Harrow.

Why are they pink? It’s a primer before the box is repainted in its iconic red coating, early UK post boxes were painted green to blend in with the landscape.

Most of the boxes will be painted red within two weeks of the pink primer added.

Back in 2012, post boxes across the UK were painted gold to celebrate local Olympians at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
