St George’s Shopping Centre collects 200 donations for Harrow charity

St. George’s Shopping Centre in Harrow Town Centre installed a donation station to collect coats, gloves, hats and scarves for local charity FirmFoundation back in January.

The station invited shoppers to St George’s to drop off a donation when they visit the centre as they shop.

After the last 3 months of the station being in place, the team have proudly announced that they have collected 200 kind donations from the people of Harrow which will now be donated to the charity.

FirmFoundation is a registered charity which helps relieve the immediate suffering of the homeless, while working with them to find a practical and sustainable solution to their needs.

FirmFoundation was created through a collection of Churches in Harrow who wanted to make a difference. The charity is now working across the borough, assisting those who are single and homeless regardless of circumstance.

Darren Harman, Centre Manager said: “We are very proud to have been able to support FirmFoundation through our new donation station. Our shoppers have been very generous in donating lots of coats, gloves, hats and scarves. We look forward to future opportunities to support FirmFoundation and other local charities.”

Julian Saunders, Charity Manager said: “The support from St. George’s Shopping Centre and the members of the public who have lovingly donated coats and other items has been wonderful. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and this winter, it has been some of the most vulnerable in society that have needed our help.

“FirmFoundation work with those who are single, 18+ and homeless in the Borough of Harrow and it can be the small practical things that make the world of difference. Thank you to all who donated and to St. George’s Shopping Centre who have made a way to make giving back possible”

The team have also confirmed that the St. George’s Donation Station will be collecting for various local charities throughout the year and will announce further details on their social media pages soon.
