Police have arrested a man, 18, on suspicion of encouraging terrorism (contrary to section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006).
The arrest was made this morning (27 April) the force have confirmed.
Posting via their website, Met Police said: “A teenager has been arrested for a terrorism offence, as part of an ongoing investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.
“An 18-year-old man was arrested at an address in west London this morning (Wednesday, 27 April) on suspicion of encouraging terrorism (contrary to section 1 of the Terrorism Act 2006).
“He was detained under PACE, and is currently in custody at a London police station.
“A PACE search warrant is being conducted at the address.
“The investigation relates to suspected extreme Islamist material, allegedly being shared online.
“Enquiries continue.”
