Woman found dead in canal in Kings Langley

Herts Police have confirmed that a woman was sadly found dead in the Grand Union Canal, Kings Langley yesterday afternoon.

Posting via their website, Herts Police said in a statement: “Police were called at 12.38pm yesterday (Wednesday 11 May) to concerns for the welfare of a woman found by a member of the public in the Grand Union Canal, Hempstead Road, near Hunton Bridge, Kings Langley.

“Emergency services attended but sadly the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Her next of kin have been informed and, at this stage, the death is being treated as unexplained.

“Officers remain at the scene and a cordon is in place.

“Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the woman by the canal between 11am and 12.35pm.

“She was described as white, aged in her 50s, 5ft 5in tall, of medium build, with shoulder length brown hair and was wearing a red T-shirt, a dark-coloured, possibly black, hoody, dark jeans and black trainers with a white sole.”
