Harrow Council will lighting a beacon to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and officially kick off the weekend of celebrations this coming Thursday, 2 June.
Harrow residents are invited to the lighting of the beacon which takes place at 9.45pm on Hatch End Playing Fields, next to Harrow Arts Centre (HAC).
The beacon is one of more than 2,020 beacons being lit throughout the UK,Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth. The beacon lighting ceremony will kick off our days of special celebrations marking the Queen’s astonishing 70 years on the throne.
Members of the Hatch End Scouts, who are celebrating their centenary, will be in attendance and also stewarding the event, which begins with a ceremony at 9pm.
