Harrow Town Centre is gearing up for a weekend to remember as we all look forward to Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee.
As you would expect, the Harrow BID team have gone all out with glorious bunting installed across the entire town giving it a lovely atmosphere with hanging baskets planted with red, white and blue flowers this year to complement the colour scheme of the Union flag.
In addition, ‘Harry the Happy Harrow Hippo’ is back in town for the next month and is suitably patriotically dressed in his Union Jack attire. You’ll be able to spot Harry on St Anns Road close to the Harrow Town Centre Welcome Arch which has also had a special Platinum Jubilee makeover!
The fun starts this weekend with the Window Art Treasure Trail that features 11 different shops have had their windows painted depicting memorable events and iconic moments throughout the Queen’s historic 70 year reign.
Participants in the treasure trail can try to spot all the different windows and solve the puzzles for a chance to win a hamper!
The festivities will kick off with St George’s Shopping Centre hosting a free event on Friday 3rd June from 11am to 3pm. This will feature musical performances from vintage trio group ‘The Knightingales‘, giveaways, face painting and more! Harrow residents can also enter their Jubilee inspired drawing competition to be in with the chance of winning a £50 shopping voucher – closing date for this is 5th June.
As if all of that wasn’t enough, there’s also many different offers in the shops and eateries across the town to celebrate what will no doubt be, a historic day for Harrow and the entire UK.
