Fans have been taking to social media to voice their concerns over the England mens football team performance against Hungary this evening.
After conceding a goal in the first half, and then nearly another, fans have been taking to the socials – some are wondering whether Gareth Southgate will even remain as England manager until the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
Seb Jenkins from Spurs web tweeted: “It feels like Southgate has been ‘experimenting’ and ‘trying things’ and ‘taking a look’ at certain players for two years. At what point do we decide on an actual strongest XI and let them play together/develop consistently? It all seems to be a bit of a mess at the moment.”
DlyTalk tweeted: “How can England be this bad at breaking teams down? There are no risk-takers in the team, it’s all sideways and backwards. Southgate is tactically out of his depth, it’s so obvious to see. Give Graham Potter this England team and he would work wonders.”
Another person tweeted: “Southgate’s selection process confuses me because he’ll drop player like Sancho because of form but will still pick players like Grealish & Maguire.”
England conceded a second goal in the 70th minute of the game. Fans are understandably questioning the tactics and pressure is mounting on Southgate to play his strongest team in these matches, especially with the World Cup looming.
One person sale: “#SOUTHGATEOUT Nothing but useless!!!! To even put ramsdale in goal , but to even bottle the euro’s because the lack of managerial experience is a joke!!! Harry redknapp would do better #ENGHUN”
Another England supporter said: “How on Earth were we in a Euros Final last year and now we are rock bottom in our nations league group? #SouthgateOut.”
One person stated: “His got to go now surely we can’t go into a World Cup with this clown in charge!!”
Another fan said: “In my years as an England fan I have not seen us perform that badly, we need to get ready for the World Cup in a few months, we must do better – the players need to prove they are worthy of wearing the England shirt.”
After Hungary scored a THIRD goal against the three lions, Southgate bizarrely took off Saka and replaced him with Harry Maguire leading to a mass of boos around the stadium.
In the 89th minute, England were subjected to a fourth goal scored by the Hungarians. Unquestionably the worst defeat England have suffered in a long, long time. One dies indeed wonder if and when Southgate’s time as England manager will come to an end, and who could replace him?.
Tonights result is Englands biggest home defeat in nearly 100 years, it’s also the biggest defeat the three lions have suffered since 1964.
Gareth Southgate has been the England manager for six years having accepted the role back in 2016. During his time as manager he has led the England team to a World Cup semi final in 2018 and Euro Final in 2021. He is the most successful England manager since World Cup winning Sir Alf Ramsey.
