With two large shipping centres, and a vast array of shops and eateries, Harrow is already a great place to go shopping at any time of the year.
The town centre has a cinema, a mini golf centre with an arcade, a plethora of cafés and restaurants and some top clothing stores such as Sports Direct, Foot Locker, Primark and TK Maxx, but what is missing?
We wanted to find out what shops or eateries Harrow residents would like to see in the town centre, best answers are below…
“The town centre could do with a new facelift but one thing I think could help would be a Harvester, we go to the one in Bushey all the time and it’s a nice place to take the kids.”
“I miss River Island in St Anns, would love to see it come back again as the clothing is top quality and I don’t like going to Watford it’s too far!.”
“There are so many places to eat and drink in Harrow, give people somewhere to buy household goods, i.e large goods so you don’t have to travel to big retail parks that are not accessible for all.”
“Home Bargains, John Lewis, clothes shops not Zara, no more cafes, restaurants.”
“Record store, music merch and books Rough Trade style and Music instruments and accessories.”
“Zara, John Lewis (please), etc. Enough of the ‘cheap and cheerful’ places that are bringing the town centre down.”
“Canadian food! Poutines, maple bacon, maple desserts, Canadian beers etc…”
“A huge John Lewis with cafe,
Costco, a great steakhouse, a fresh fish and food market, a huge bakers serving fresh handmade bread/patisserie, Planet Organic /itsu, whole foods market grocery store – like the one they have in Oxford Street/Kensington.”
“A Zara or Dunelms would attract a lot of people as their are none more locally. People who go to spend money in decent shops generally hang around for lunch and dinner or drinks in my view.”
“How about Carluccios, The Real Greek, Cote and an Albion and East bar/restaurant located in Perceval Square.”
“Wagamama. Great restaurant choice that appeals to a wide demographic.”
“How about we ask what one should be changed? There are a few that I would replace but Harrow at least has a Card Factory, it’s so much more affordable than things like Moon Pig and they have every card you can imagine.”
“I miss the food & vibe of Chiquitos.”
“A Nike store please or especially a nike outlet store like the one in Wembley, bargain prices and they’ve got others too like Adidas and Champion.”
“A carvery would be nice, who doesn’t like a nice roast?.”
“River Island, Zara, Homesense (the little corner in Tk Maxx is too small), The Range…”
“There was a Chinese takeaway on Mason’s Ave in the 70s they did the nicest special fried rice in Wealdstone.”
“Unless they are planning to bring Woolworths back im not sure, that was the one place to go for all your Christmas shopping ever year, it’s just not the same without it.”
“Jimmys world food kitchen or a food hall like the Oriental one in Edgware.”
“The town centre could go the same way as Wembley with the designer shops and low cost sports wear, it has completely changed the area for the better and if it happens in Harrow then it’s a win win for everyone.”
