Northwick Park Hospital to reintroduce masks after rise in Covid-19 cases

A spike in Covid-19 cases across the UK, including Harrow, means patients coming into London North West University Healthcare’s hospitals must now wear masks in clinical
areas and waiting rooms.

Yesterday (13 July), the daily number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in London was reported as 24,513 with 85 people (in London) dying within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test.

Both Ealing and Northwick Park hospitals have both reported an increase in admissions of people with the Covid-19 virus but have reassured the public the majority of people continue to show relatively mild symptoms, and that the situation is being closely monitored.

Helen Hardy, Deputy Head Nurse for LNWH, said: “We are adopting a more cautious approach but there will be no changes to our current visiting policy.

“It’s about protecting our most vulnerable patients and staff so we are asking visitors to wear PPE and masks in wards and clinical areas.”
