Sheena Sanhye, dispensing assistant from Honeypot Pharmacy in Harrow, has been rewarded for her retail prowess thus named highly commended in the Retail Skills Award category at the Recognition of Excellence (RoE) Awards.
I their ninth year, the awards are presented by pharmacy trade magazine ‘Training Matters’ to key healthcare workers for outstanding achievements in the world of community pharmacy.
For the past seven years, Sheena Sanhye has worked 50 hour weeks with one of her main responsibilities being taking note of the pricing of medicines and medication shortages. “I have very close contacts in pharmaceutical companies,” she explains.
“Every three weeks, I’ll ring my main suppliers and ask them if there are any stock shortages and if prices will go up.” She also attends trading shows to see the new over the counter products they could be stocking and keeps an eye out for any new products to ensure they provide their cusomters with up to date options.
Commenting on the RoE Awards, editor of Training Matters and Awards host Monica West said: “The Recognition of Excellence Awards is the only UK awards that celebrates hard working pharmacy staff, without the focus being on pharmacists.
“We think it is so important to reward the people who are fundamentally often the backbones of pharmacy teams.
“These individuals go above and beyond every single day, putting their communities before themselves. We think that’s certainly something to shout about.”
