Four fire engines rush to Mitcham Road, Croydon as fire breaks out

Four fire engines and around 25 firefighters have been dispatched to Mitcham Road, Croydon after a fire broke out.

London Fire Brigade was called to garages alight at the rear of Westcombe Avenue in Croydon.

Two garages in a rear garden were destroyed by fire and a further six garages were also damaged by the blaze. There were no reports of any injuries.

The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers took 12 calls to the fire.

The Brigade was called at 1202 and the fire was under control by 1309. Fire crews from Croydon, Norbury, West Norwood and Purley fire stations attended the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
