Dance is a combination of art and sport. In terms of art, dance plays a varied role in enhancing facial expressions through choreography and tells stories without using the mouth. When looking at dance as a sport it needs flexibility, stamina, strength and grace.
Dance grooves the body’s movement in a rhythmic way following a sequence of steps to music within a given space releasing energy. Popular types of dance include ballet, modern, tap, contemporary, ballroom, hip-hop, jazz and folk dance.
Harrow Theatre Dance is comprised of a team of qualified professionals that run the dance school. It enrols students from the age of 3 to adults and classes are conducted pertaining to each pupil’s level and capabilities.
Types of dance taught are ballet, modern tap and street dance. Dancers are prepared for ISTD examinations along side given the opportunity to show cast their talent in shows and competitions.
A number of successful shows and competitions have been run over the years to their credit. These included Christmas eve crib services, Tapathons, Compass Christmas Concerts, Dance Shows, Summer Workshops, Choreography Competitions and opera performances. Like any form of sport or art dance involves a lot of hard work and dedication clubbed up with love, passion and interest.
