A number of South Harrow Market traders close due to ‘urgent health and safety issues’

A number of traders at South Harrow Market have been asked to close to address ‘urgent health and safety issues’ within the wider market it has emerged.

Whilst most of the market remains open as usual, there are a number of traders that have been asked to close for a short time after issues have arisen.

Labour MP for Harrow West, Gareth Thomas tweeted: “I’m sorry to hear that TfL have had to close South Harrow Market temporarily due to a number of health and safety problems. I have been reassured that TfL will be working hard to resolve the problems and hope to have the market open again as soon as is possible.”

Jo Fisher, Head of Arches at TfL, said: “The majority of South Harrow Market remains open but we have had to ask some traders to close for a short time to address some urgent health and safety issues that have arisen within the wider market. We, our contractors and the market management team are working to resolve all issues so these retailers can reopen as soon as possible and continue to serve the South Harrow community.”
