Headstone Manor ‘Village Show’ to be held on Bank Holiday weekend

An upcoming Horticultural And Craft Show at Headstone Manor is set to provide an opportunity for Harrow residents to get together to exhibit their talents. The show, which is part of the big bank holiday event, will also offer a unique learning opportunity with participants able to try something new and interact with people who are experienced and willing to share their skills.

The ‘Village Show’ is set to be held at Headstone Manor and Museum, Harrow’s local history institution surrounded by historic grounds and a moated Medieval Manor House. After refurbishment, the grounds now have improved facilities for exhibitions, corporate parties, and weddings. The barn and learning centre offer a fascinating look at some of the borough’s rich history with the grand marquee on the grounds behind the Great Barn. The Village Show will be held on Monday 29th August 2022 from 12:00pm till 5:00pm.

Entries for the 2022 show: This year’s entries for the show include Top Vase, Top tray, Fruits Section, Flower Section, Floral Art Section, Home Preserve Section, Cookery Section, Home Made Wine, Beer and Cider Section, Arta and Crafts Section, Honey Mead and a Beeswax Section.

Guide to Showing: This Section portrays an in-depth of what the requirements are for each class. It is mandatory to follow the rules and regulations specified. Judges are equipped with weighing scales and rings to check diameters.

Tips: Vegetables and fruits are judged on uniformity, condition and size. Flowers need to be plucked carefully and must be fresh. Faded or scruffy flowers or diseased leaves need to be cut. Damaged Petals need to be carefully removed. For pot plants remove damaged diseased or dying flowers and leaves. The cookery section needs attention to be paid as to whether a recipe or tin size is indicated. Make sure jams, jellies and curds are tightly closed. In addition, organisers say that the Village Show will feature an array of free entertainment for all ages such as Arts and Crafts, Live Entertainers & Music, Robin Hood Outdoor Theatre, Circus Performances, Storytelling, Ferrets and Falconry, Guided Nature walks and much more!

The Duck Pond Market to this year’s event and situated inside the stunning Great Barn with plenty of food and drink on offer for attendees.
