Man arrested in Wealdstone on suspicion of making ‘threats to kill’

There was a significant Met Police and London Fire Brigade presence in Wealdstone this afternoon as multiple fire engines, police cars, and incident response units were seen in the High Street.

A man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill, two counts of attempted to cause grievous bodily harm and a malicious communications offence, police have confirmed. Police arrived at the scene at around 10:00am and were present until around 3pm.

Ladysmith Road in Wealdstone was blocked off by police as the incident unfolded. Multiple people contacted Harrow Online to find out what was happening with one person telling us that they have been advised by police to ‘stay indoors’.

A spokesperson for Met Police said: “At 09:49hrs on Sunday, 21 August police received a call from a man making verbal threats.

“As a result of the call, officers attended Artisan Place, Harrow where they were confronted by a man who made threats to harm officers and himself.

“A negotiator was deployed and partner agencies – including the London Ambulance Service – sent resources to the scene as a precaution.

“Shortly before 14:00hrs officers forced entry to the property and a short time later were able to detain the man.

“He was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill, two counts of attempted to cause grievous bodily harm and a malicious communications offence.

“He was taken to hospital for assessment.”
