Harrow’s own Simeon Powell is touted as one of the best young talents on the UK MMA scene, with an undefeated record of 7 wins with no draws or losses. Nicknamed ‘Smooth’, he is proving that he is indeed just that, as he battles his way up the ranks.
Harrow Online had the opportunity to catch up with Simeon about his life in Harrow, and how he hopes to inspire other young people in the borough through his positive message as he continues his career in MMA.
Simeon said that being from Harrow Weald, “I spent a lot of my time at Manor park youth centre. I remember seeing that getting built and then finally attending Kickz.
“I Went to Harrow High school, The school at the time was rough to say the least but it helped shape me into the man I’ve become today as there were so many supportive teachers in the school.”
“I got into MMA by joining Premier BJJ in Harrow (Under Morrisons). I started off with kickboxing and then made my transition into MMA. My first coach at the time Chris Foran and my peers was a massive help in giving me the belief that I could make something out of it,” he added.
Simeon is competing in the Professional Fighters League (PFL), which is offering $1M to the winner in a special “the Champions League of MMA” styled tournament.
Simeon said: “My current objectives are to stay undefeated and climb up the ranks so that I can fight for $1 million dollars in the PFL Season. My future in this sport is to become a world champion and be remembered as one of the greatest fighters to ever do it.
“My message to the residents of Harrow is to get behind me and show your support, as I’m trying to inspire the next generation of youth that hard work and dedication can get you whatever you want.”
