Harrow fun day raises much needed money for Great Ormond Street Hospital

Recent charitable efforts by the teams at St. George’s Shopping Centre and Harrow BID, responsible for the town centre, have raised an incredible £1,532.75 for Great Ormond Street Hospital.

It was back on 24th August that St George’s Shopping Centre and Harrow BID invited families across the borough to join them for a fundraising day in the town centre that included balloon modelling, face painting, hook a duck, Punch & Judy and meet and greet opportunities with superhero characters. Over the course of the ‘Let’s Get Fundraising’ event, over 24,000 people paid a visit to Harrow Town Centre and St George’s to help raise this phenomenal sum.

The efforts of the Harrow BID and St George’s Shopping Centre team were to support the One Great Day national annual charity fundraising day. Each year, the special day is to help raise much-needed funds to support Great Ormond Street Hospital which provides care to seriously ill children.

Darren Harman, Centre Manager at St. George’s Shopping Centre and Chairman of Harrow BID, said: “The team and I are devoted to raising money for this important charity each year and we want to say a big thank you to the Harrow community for their continued support. We are very lucky to live amongst such a giving community which makes events like this possible. We look forward to hosting more in the future.”

Louise Baxter, Harrow BID Manager, said: “It was so nice to see everyone enjoying themselves and helping us to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital. People of all ages were smiling and laughing along with Punch and Judy, as well as enjoying the many other activities.”
