A community group in Harrow have won a very special award for ‘Community Group of the Year’ at the Nextdoor ‘Good Neighbourhood Awards’.
Over 5,000 entries were received from members of the public nominating the amazing individuals, groups and businesses that have supported their communities over the 12 months.
This year’s Community Group of the Year is Harrow‘s very own Radnor Community Group. The group received a glowing nomination from a local resident and has been praised for having such a profound, positive impact on the local area in its first year since creation.
The group has been widely commended for its work in helping to care and shop for vulnerable neighbours, providing free food for those in need, as well as injecting some joy back into the local area through litter clean-ups and the planting of new trees and flowers within the local roads – all of which has been done in its first year.

To celebrate the success of all their hard work, the community group came together in a wonderful Queen’s Platinum Jubilee lunch earlier this year, with 209 residents joining local businesses and even the Mayor, seeing everyone from babies to grannies joining in on the glorious fun with food, games and competitions.
On the award win, Elaine Bailey, Chair of Radnor Community Group, said: “Winning Community Group of the Year means so much to the Radnor community! In just a short space of time, the group has seen over 200 members join and actively contribute to create a safer and more connected neighbourhood – really showcasing how community spirit is still very much alive and we’re hopeful that many of the existing community group projects all around Harrow will grow.”
Roisin O’Neill, Head of Community at Nextdoor said: “Reading through the entries received for this year’s awards, it is clear that community spirit is at the heart of British neighbourhoods. From individual acts of kindness to community groups and local businesses positively affecting the lives of others, we’re so incredibly proud to celebrate so many of their inspiring stories including our Community Group of the Year, Radnor Community Group.’’
