Free bulky waste collections in Harrow to start in the new year

Residents across Harrow will be pleased to hear that free bulky waste collections have been officially approved after a Harrow Council cabinet meeting tonight (13 October).

Starting in 2023, one free bulky waste collection per year (for up to four items) can be booked by Harrow residents. The free annual collection (usually costing £51), will be booked by using the council website, welcome news with the cost of living rising dramatically. A list of eligible items for collection can be seen at www.harrow.gov.uk/bulkywaste.

Cllr Anjana Patel, Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety at Harrow Council said: “People want to see clean streets and an easy way to dispose of waste so we are delivering on our promise and putting residents first.

“This annual free bulky waste collection will enable residents to dispose of large items quickly, help to tackle fly-tipping in our borough and give back to residents at a time when costs are rising. And for those intent on breaking the rules and illegally dumping their waste, we’ll continue to take tough enforcement action.”

The new bulky waste service will be available to Harrow residents, businesses, and schools, through an online booking system to be launched in January.
