Police warn public after scams in Stanmore

Police in Stanmore have alerted the public to be aware after a series of thefts in the high street.

Posting via the OWL website, a local PCSO noted that “there have been a series of thefts on the Stanmore High Street whereby a group are posing as council ticket/traffic inspectors.

“They are approaching elderly members of public who have just parked their vehicles and informing them either that the parking machines are out of order or they are about to receive a fine unless they hand over their bank card and details.”

They added that “official parking attendants will have the appropriate uniform, ID and will never ask for your bank details.”
