Diwali celebration to be held in Harrow Town Centre

Residents in Harrow will be able to celebrate Diwali in style this week as a special event is being organised in Harrow Town Centre.

This Thursday (20 October), the town centre will be lit up by the Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Janet Mote, as she will arrive to turn the lights on to celebrate the Festival of Lights. The event is the first of the many festive activities planned in Harrow over the coming weeks and the run-up to Christmas.

Diwali is always one of Harrow’s biggest celebrations as the Festival of Lights is marked at many different events, and with Diwali falling on October 24 this year, there are also many other activities happening across the borough.

This past weekend we saw the Pankaj Sodha Diwali Festival at Harrow Leisure Centre and the annual Harrow Fireworks Display will also mark the occasion on 5 November from Byron Park, Wealdstone. St George’s Shopping Centre will also be holding a Diwali event on Saturday 22 October with free henna art and food offerings from Dabeli Hut.

The event in Harrow Town Centre this coming Thursday is set to feature the amazing Dhol drummers, free food giveaways and lots more. All the fun and frolics start at 4:00pm at Katie’s Statue.
