Lowlands Road in Harrow closed off as firefighters called to gas cylinder fire

Lowlands Road in Harrow was cordoned off by police after a fire at a construction site this afternoon.

A spokesperson for London Fire Brigade confirmed that they were called to Lowlands Road, Harrow at 11:54 to reports of an acetylene gas cylinder on fire, which has since been extinguished.

Two fire engines and specialist fire services vehicles remained at the scene as the cylinders get extremely hot and can explode. The firefighters remained on site to cool the cylinder and keep the area safe, the Brigade confirmed.

Met Police were called at 12:05 and manned cordons at the scene.
