Leisure centre in Stanmore opens as warm hub with 31 degree pool

A leisure centre in Stanmore has opened it’s doors to those in need in Harrow as a warm hub during the winter months.

Aspire Leisure Centre, based just off Stanmore Hill, opened as a place to get much-needed warmth for the local community in Harrow, whilst working together with Halcyon Interiors.

The hub will be open on weekdays from 6pm-10pm in the café area and has space for around 30 people. There is free wifi and a variety of books, games and a TV, with free parking and local bus routes.

The Aspire Leisure Centre is fully accessible and its facilities include a gym, sports hall and a variety of classes. The 25-metre swimming pool has full ramped access, making it wheelchair accessible, with speciality swimming pool wheelchairs available for our disabled customers to use.

Aspire also noted that with recent news reports of local swimming pools reducing their pool temperatures, reducing their opening hours or closing altogether, the centre will be able to maintain their pool at a toasty 31 degrees.

Brian Carlin, Aspire CEO, says, “We are delighted that we have been able to open a warm hub for the local community, particularly now the winter has really set in, as we’re aware that many people are worried about their heating bills.

“However, despite increases in energy costs, we intend to maintain the swimming pool at 31 degrees throughout the winter, so it can continue to be enjoyed by swimmers of all ages and abilities.”
