Mayor of Harrow delivers message to residents as we start the new year

Mayor of Harrow, Cllr Janet Mote has delivered a message to residents of Harrow as we start the new year across the borough.

The Mayor spoke of her delight at meeting so many members of the community and noted several highlights of her time as Mayor so far, including the Platinum Jubilee celebrations and the Proclamation of King Charles, held at the Civic Centre and Harrow Town Centre.

Posting on her social media channels, Mayor Janet Mote said: “Hello to you all, well, my mayoral year so far, has been great. Absolutely fantastic, and I’ve been delighted to meet so many people within the community. Of course, we started with the platinum jubilee, and the most amazing street parties and all the various events that were attached were absolutely fabulous. And then, of course, we had the civic service as well which was an absolute delight to see so many people turn out and lovely for the cadets. One of the other highlights we’ve had so far, is going to Douai which is our twin town in northern France and they have a festival of the giants which is absolutely amazing, six men have to actually move it which is incredible.

“So then summer came, we had lots of various events I really enjoyed with the mayoress, and then we had The London Mayor’s Association service at Westminister Abbey and that was lovely to see everybody together and to parade. Then, unfortunately, we had our late Queen, and she died. And then we had the proclamation which I did in St Anns and also the Civic Centre, and it was lovely to see so many people coming out to proclaim the King.”
